Sworn Officers

The Belgrade Police Department posts all Sworn Officer positions on the City of Belgrade Employment Webpage as soon as they become open. Interested applicants should follow the instructions on the job posting to obtain an application.

Job openings at the Belgrade Police Department are divided into two categories, Post Certified and Entry Level.

Post Certified applicants include individuals who currently hold, at minimum, an active Basic Law Enforcement Certificate from Montana Public Safety Officer Standards and Training (Post) Bureau or an equivalent certificate from another state.

Entry Level applicants include any induvial who is interested in the position and meets the minimum statutory requirements for becoming a peace officer in the State of Montana, whether they possess a Post certificate or not. Minimum statutory qualifications include United States Citizenship, at least 18 years of age, high school graduate or possess a GED. Successful certified applicants that apply to an entry level posting will still be treated as lateral transfers in accordance with city policies.

Successful candidates must pass a written test, physical fitness test, background check, complete an interview board, and undergo a psychological evaluation.
