Belgrade Urban (Jackrabbit Lane - Madison to Main)

The Belgrade Urban project aims to relieve congestion and provide improved traffic operations on Jackrabbit Lane and Main Street by expanding Jackrabbit Lane to five lanes, from Madison Avenue to Main Street. The project will also install an underpass or overpass at its crossing with BNSF's railway. Additionally, the project will include expanded shoulders and sidewalks, increasing safety for pedestrians and non-motorized users, as well as vehicles.

The Montana Department of Transportation is the lead agency on this project. However, the City of Belgrade is actively pursuing grant funding opportunities to bring this project to fruition. HDR is currently under contract to author an application, on the City's behalf, for the US Department of Transportation's Rebuilding American Infrastructure with Sustainability and Equity (RAISE) discretionary grant program. The total cost of Belgrade Urban is expected to exceed $40 million. The maximum RAISE grant award is $25 million, and remaining funds will come from the Montana Department of Transportation.

Public support helps push projects like Belgrade Urban to the finish line, and we are seeking your help. If you are an individual, organization, or business that is directly affected by the current Jackrabbit Lane infrastructure, please consider writing a letter of support for the project. We also encourage residents to reach out to their elected local, state, and federal officials to express support for this project.

A letter of support template is available here and can be customized. Letters of support must be received by the City of Belgrade by February 19, 2024, and can be emailed to [email protected] or mailed to:
